چکیده

Abstract Background Duck is an ancient domesticated animal with high economic value, used for its meat, eggs, and feathers. However, the origin of indigenous Chinese ducks remains elusive. To address this question, we performed whole-genome resequencing to first explore genetic relationship among variants these domestic their potential wild ancestors in eastern China, as well understand how genomes were shaped by different natural artificial selective pressures. Results Here, report 60 from spot-billed ( Anas zonorhyncha) , mallards (Anas platyrhnchos ), Fenghua ducks, Shaoxing Shanma Cherry Valley Pekin China (ten each population) at average effective sequencing depth ~ 6× per individual. The results population demographic analysis revealed a deep phylogenetic split between (Chinese mallards) ducks. By applying sweep analysis, identified that several candidate genes, important pathways GO categories associated selection functionally related cellular adhesion, type 2 diabetes, lipid metabolism, cell cycle, liver proliferation, muscle functioning Conclusion Genetic structure showed close mallards, which supported contributed breeding During long history selection, have developed complex biological adaptation captivity.

Yak whole-genome resequencing reveals domestication signatures and prehistoric population expansions

Yak domestication represents an important episode in the early human occupation of the high-altitude Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP). The precise timing of domestication is debated and little is known about the underlying genetic changes that occurred during the process. Here we investigate genome variation of wild and domestic yaks. We detect signals of selection in 209 genes of domestic yaks, sev...

Whole-genome sequencing of cultivated and wild peppers provides insights into Capsicum domestication and specialization.

As an economic crop, pepper satisfies people's spicy taste and has medicinal uses worldwide. To gain a better understanding of Capsicum evolution, domestication, and specialization, we present here the genome sequence of the cultivated pepper Zunla-1 (C. annuum L.) and its wild progenitor Chiltepin (C. annuum var. glabriusculum). We estimate that the pepper genome expanded ∼0.3 Mya (with respec...

Whole-genome sequencing of Berkshire (European native pig) provides insights into its origin and domestication

Domesticated organisms have experienced strong selective pressures directed at genes or genomic regions controlling traits of biological, agricultural or medical importance. The genome of native and domesticated pigs provide a unique opportunity for tracing the history of domestication and identifying signatures of artificial selection. Here we used whole-genome sequencing to explore the geneti...

Signatures of selection in tilapia revealed by whole genome resequencing

Natural selection and selective breeding for genetic improvement have left detectable signatures within the genome of a species. Identification of selection signatures is important in evolutionary biology and for detecting genes that facilitate to accelerate genetic improvement. However, selection signatures, including artificial selection and natural selection, have only been identified at the...

Whole genome sequencing of multiple Leishmania donovani clinical isolates provides insights into population structure and mechanisms of drug resistance.

Visceral leishmaniasis is a potentially fatal disease endemic to large parts of Asia and Africa, primarily caused by the protozoan parasite Leishmania donovani. Here, we report a high-quality reference genome sequence for a strain of L. donovani from Nepal, and use this sequence to study variation in a set of 16 related clinical lines, isolated from visceral leishmaniasis patients from the same...
